Effect of Surface Sandblasting and Turning on Compressive Strength of Thin 316L Stainless Steel Shells Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

چکیده
This study evaluates the effect of post-manufacturing treatment on compressive performance additively manufactured components. The components were thin cylindrical shells with an aspect ratio 25:1 using laser powder bed fusion and that then surface treated by means sandblasting or turning. as-printed subsequently samples uniaxially compressed until failure to depict condition mechanical behavior. results show as surfaces became smoother via sandblasting, average peak strength for buckling load improves negligibly (0.85%), whereas this reaches 6.5% upon layer removal Through microstructural investigation co-relating understanding processing conditions existing in manufacturing itself, is seen be linked contour scanning causing softening region a component.

Effect of surface treatment with sandblasting and Er,Cr:YSGG laser on bonding of stainless steel orthodontic brackets to silver amalgam
OBJECTIVES Satisfactory bonding of orthodontic attachments to amalgam is a challenge for orthodontists. The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the shear bond strength of stainless steel orthodontic brackets to silver amalgam treated with sandblasting and Er,Cr:YSGG laser. STUDY DESIGN Fifty-four amalgam discs were prepared, polished and divided into three groups: In group 1 (the contro...

In this work, potential of the nanosecond laser processing technique on manipulating the surface wettability of 316L bio grade stainless steel is investigated. Results show that the steel wettability toward water, improves significantly after the laser treatment. Different analyses are assessed in correlation with wettability using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Scanning Tunneling Microsco...
متن کاملThe Effect of Surface Roughness on the Fretting Corrosion of 316l Stainless Steel Biomaterial Surfaces
The medical device industry is still seeking answers to the mechanically-assisted corrosion (MAC) problem, which becomes increasingly important due to modularity in design. MAC manifests in various forms, some of which are fretting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion. Several studies have been conducted to understand the causes and the factors that affect fretting corrosion. Some ...
